AC 43.13-B: Advisory circular published by the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation entitled Acceptable Methods, Techniques, and Practices - Aircraft Inspection and Repair.  This is a widely used reference for aircraft construction standards and a required document for any Canadian homebuilder.

Edge Distance: This is the distance from the center of the rivet hole to the nearest edge of the material.  According to AC 43.13-B, for single row rivets the edge distance should not be less than 2 times the diameter of the rivet and spacing should not be less than 3 times the diameter of the rivet.
